The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is rolling out electric buses in six districts as part of its “Electro” green mobility program. The initiative aims to provide cheap, eco-friendly public transport while reducing pollution and fuel dependency.

According to the Punjab Transport Company, the first phase will cover:

The districts were chosen based on population density, transport demand, and air quality concerns.
🌍 Sargodha to Lead with 48 Buses
Sargodha will receive the largest allocation with 48 electric buses. Each tehsil will operate around 8–9 buses, ensuring urban and semi-urban residents have better travel options.
Officials confirmed that charging stations and maintenance depots are being set up, with final route testing in progress before operations officially begin.
